Overnight a little image was dropped by Ford that will get most car people from around the world excited. The picture in question is a teaser shot of the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500.

Ford has said that this new GT 500 would be powered by a supercharged V8 that will be pushing out 700+ hp or over 522 kW. Ford also noted with pride that the new GT 500 would be the most powerful street-legal production car in their company’s history.

The image shows a more muscular exterior then a standard Mustang. Also, the front grill seems to have increased over the surface of the bumper. I’m guessing this redesign will allow for much higher airflow into the engine bay to help with cooling, which is a must-have for a car that's going to be putting out over 700hp.

Arriving in 2019, the all-new Mustang Shelby® GT500 will be the pinnacle of Mustang performance, highlighting the innovation, ingenuity and passion of Ford Performance. With more than 700 horsepower projected, the supercharged V8 Mustang Shelby GT500 will be the most powerful street-legal production Ford ever, and twice as powerful as the original 1967 Mustang performance model.

But us Aussie's have one question, will there be a limited number build in right-hand drive for the Australian market? That question isn't a silly one to ask; Ford has recently set a precedent with the special edition 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt. The Mustang Bullitt will be sold in limited numbers for the Australian market. Let's hope Ford Australia can work some magic so we can see one or two of the new GT 500 on Aussie roads.
