This past week McLaren gave the gift that keeps on giving with unseen footage of their record attempt in the F1. The title that was on offer was the fastest production car in the world. The footage shows the driver Andy Wallace back in 1998 attempting to max out the F1 to a top speed of 240.1 mph.
This very car was five years old in 1998 and was still owned by McLaren then, and I believe they still own this car today as seen in this EVO Magazine youtube clip.
With it being five years old it wasn't a problem for the car to set the record as the fastest car in the world with Andy Wallace at the wheel. Andy does point out that he was a younger guy back then and didn't think about safety too much.
Its a great video from McLaren which is just in time for the 25th anniversary since the F1's debut on the 28th of May 1992, at The Sporting Club in Monaco.
I loved this Car when I was in High School and still do today; I also like the fact that it's still the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world 19 years later even if it doesn't hold the outright title anymore. So sit back and relax and enjoy the video.
