When you think of a sports car, you think of sleek designs, the squealing of tyres and the roar of powerful engines. Few companies have consistently mastered this type of car, with even fewer creating something that strikes equal parts fear and admiration in drivers. Porsche is one of those few companies to do both, and their new 911 GT2 RS is quite possibly their most fearsome car yet.

Labelled as the most powerful road-legal 911 ever created, the GT2 RS looks to have been created in a secret laboratory rather than on a manufacturing line. Powered by a 700hp twin-turbo 3.8L flat engine, it can peak at 340km/h, as well as achieving a 0-100km/h in a frighteningly quick 2.8sec, rightfully gaining the title of one of the fastest cars ever produced by Porsche. Owing to this ferocious speed is primarily its weight, with the German manufacturer claiming a total weight of 1470kg, which includes a full tank of petrol. A racing chassis and rear axle steering system ensures the 7speed automatic dual clutch transmission gracefully shifts through the gears, while the PSM stability control system and the carbon-ceramic brakes keep you firmly in control. And to top it off, a lighter titanium twin exhaust system will make sure you don’t miss a single growl or roar from the monster under the hood.

Externally, the GT2 RS has a body that puts most 911 models to shame, with sleek angles and style improvements giving the latest model the aesthetics of a Greek God. The exterior has been shredded down to the bone, with lightweight carbon fibre, titanium and magnesium covering the majority of the car. Front and side vents help increase the air flow, which combine with the upgraded water injection system to increase the output needed to make the 911 lean and mean.

A large adjustable rear wing and wider wheel base are in charge of keeping the beast under control, with Porsche widening the car to increase stability and cornering, making it as smooth as it is fast.

On the inside, drivers will be treated to a mix of leather and carbon fibre, combining black and red colours to ensure the interior is as sleek as the exterior. In addition to the full bucket seats, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system comes as standard, giving you all the modern comforts you come to expect. An optional Chrono Package is available for those more inclined to unleash on the track, with improved timing instruments and data retention systems giving you the race-car feeling.

Ultimately, the new GT2 RS is a powerhouse of German engineering and Porsche industry experience. As iconic as the 911 is, Porsche still looks to improve, although with this model, it looks like they’ve reached the pinnacle of sports cars.
